Systems Thinking and the Climate Crisis

This 4 hour ‘workshop’ will be an exploratory, experiential and skill building introduction to systems thinking. It will build on, but does not require attendance at, the previous workshop held in October. In this session, you will learn about and apply a systems thinking lens and some of the basic systems thinking tools to help us make sense of the complexity we live in. We will examine the Climate Crisis using our newfound systems thinking tools, however, other topics and matters will be explored as well. If you attended the previous workshop, please do come to this session as we will deepen your learning by applying the tools in ways we did not have time to before. There will also be a continued dialogue on what this means for how we see ourselves and others via a systems lens. Topics and tools include: – Non-linearity and cause and effect relationships – Senge’s Laws of Complexity – Mapping Feedback loops – Systems Archetypes – The Climate Crisis and other topics around sustainability. Come share in the learning experience and a different conversation together this 7 Dec, 2019 at 1.30pm to 5.30pm. This workshop has been provided at a greatly reduced entrance fee, covering venue and food costs, in order to promote a new level of awareness and thinking. We look forward to seeing you there! REGISTRATION starts at 1.30pm. This event is co-hosted with A Good Space – where changemakers flourish as a community to imagine and create experiences that expand perspectives across diverse social issues. From Poverty Simulations to a Feast with Seniors, come learn about a wide range of social issues through innovative activities. Parent & Child Mindfulness Workshop with Singing Bowls

Parent & Child Mindfulness Singing Bowl Workshop : : For parents and kids age 4 and above : : Help your kids develop a mindfulness practice. Cultivate the habit of connecting with calmness and inner peace through the use of the singing bowls. We cannot avoid technology and the hyper connectivity that comes with it. Our young generation is constantly bombarded and distracted by all sorts of information from their devices. The mind is never well rested. It takes conscious efforts to take a break from the constant stream of feeds. Through running the shop, The Singing Bowl Gallery, we’ve seen customers introducing singing bowls to their children. More and more parents are aware of the need to find a way to help their kids calm the mind and get into balance. This workshop is child-friendly. It is a great opportunity for parents and kids to bond in peace and harmony. We’ll start this workshop with a 20mins Singing Bowl Meditation/Sound Bath. All participants will feel the resonance happening in the body and the minds turning inwards to connect with the inner-self. Followed by a short sharing and Q&A session, we’ll then proceed to learn how to produce beautiful sounds with the singing bowls by tapping and ringing. At the end of the session, all parents and kids will be able to play the singing bowls. In addition, parents will be taught how to guide and support the kids to maintain the practice, helping the kids to develop better concentration and connection to calmness. Singing Bowl is a handmade metal bowl. It produces sound and overtones when being tapped and rubbed with a wooden playing stick. Through resonance, the sounds and vibrations bring us to a state of peace and calmness effortlessly. It is non-religious and simple to use. It doesn’t involve any believes and complicated steps. Christina Shiu, founder of The Singing Bowl Gallery, has been successful in coaching adults and very young kids to play the singing bowls through her monthly workshops in the last 2 years. Besides actively promoting singing bowl as a tool to practice mindfulness through hosting regular meditation and therapy sessions at The Singing Bowl Gallery, she also conducts workshops for corporate and private groups.
