5 Vegetarian Options in Singapore for Meatless Mondays

October 27, 2014

Having a vegetarian meal is a powerful and pleasurable way to achieve good health. It is also a great way to care for the environment too. Did you know that it takes 78 calories of fossil fuel to produce 1 calorie of beef protein? Furthermore, it takes 3 to 15 times more water to produce animal protein as it does plant protein!  Whether you’re doing it for your own health or for the environment, here are five restaurant where you can enjoy some delicious veggie food!

1. 7 Sensations

1. 7 Sensations

7 Sensations recently reopened at 279 Jalan Besar and have been offering delicious daily set meals, among other asian inspired dishes. We love their daily brown rice set special (in photo) at just $10.80. The set in this photo contains organic korean brown rice, vegetarian mutton curry, tofu with Thai sweet & sour chilli along side some mixed greens with French dressing.

2. Grain

Too lazy to go get a take-away? Little Green Dot has a cool brand to share with you – Grain. Hop online and look through their ever-changing menu. After ordering, meet their driver at your office driveway within 15 minutes for your food! Healthy will taste boring with their hearty salads and interesting cold-pressed juices. Our personal favourite is Evil Flamingo – Watermelon, Capsicum & Mint.

The Mezze platter at Original Sin is the ultimate guilty-free pleasure. This is their best-selling dish over the past decade, and definitely one of our favourite dishes. Another must-try is their Moussaka, which is baked layers of char-grilled eggplant, potato, tomato and lentils, infused with middle eastern spices.

Sunny Choice cafe offers healthy vegetarian meals. The cafe is set within their organic grocery retail shop. We love their vegetable Bibimbap, Thunder Tea Rice (Hakka Lei Cha) and vegetable sushi. They take an asian-fusion spin on vegetarian dishes. Ask if they have their famous chendol dessert while you are there!

5. Poison Ivy Cafe

If you have not already tried Poison Ivy Cafe at Bollywood Veggies, we suggest you start planning a visit. Although it is in a very secluded location, it is worth the trip exactly for that reason – to be away from the hustle of the city. This humble cafe serves asian vegetarian dishes with a signature banana curry on the menu. Go for a nice garden tour while you are there, but remember to bring bug spray.
